  • Job Title: Registered Nurse

  • Vacancy type: Temporary, 3 months, with ongoing agency shifts

  • Shifts: Monday to Friday

  • Pay rates: Earn up to R 250.35* per hour

  • Transport: Own transport required; reimbursement per kilometer

  • Location: Hermanus, Western Cape (view map)

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Preventative Activities: Administer immunizations, Vitamin A, deworming treatments, and provide sexual and reproductive health services (family planning).

  • Women's Health: Perform cervical screenings and breast examinations in community settings.

  • Patient Care: Take blood samples (e.g., liver function) for bedridden patients when required.

  • Basic and Wound Care: Assess referrals from hospitals and Primary Health Care (PHC), create nursing care plans, allocate tasks to Community Health Workers (CHWs), and monitor patient progress with regular follow-ups.

  • HIV Testing: Conduct on-the-spot HIV testing as needed.

  • Health Campaign Support: Assist with health campaigns, including school and crèche visits and administering vaccinations (e.g., measles, HPV, influenza).

Requirements

  • Active registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

  • Proven experience in delivering community-based healthcare services.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • A strong commitment to improving community health and well-being.
