Safety of agency workers 

As an agency worker, you are protected by laws and regulations that set up a safe working environment. It is your responsibility to take care of your safety while commuting to and from your assignments. It’s advisable to read up on the location and familiarise yourself with the area. We will provide a full briefing when we confirm shifts with you, which will include:

  • The dates and time of shifts, booking reference if applicable.

  • The length (duration) of shift and confirmation of pay rate.

  • Details of location, client address, and contact details are available on Staffshift.

  • Any other information, for instance, talk through the duty’s expectations by the client or an additional request.

Your safety with our clients

Our clients have a responsibility to ensure that the work environment is free from any safety hazards as stated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85, 1993) by the Department of Labour. They need to regularly implement appropriate health and safety training to candidates before they can execute their duties. Our Clients need to follow risk assessments that highlights key factors such as:

  • Identifying any hazards

  • Who is at risk

  • Act to remove or to reduce them

The procedure should be monitored through consistent follow-up checks and action any risk factors.

Agency standards with the Department of Labour

The A24 Group needs to meet the standards or agency regulations as stated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85, 1993) by the Department of Labour.

  • We need to ensure the working environment is safe for all agency workers

  • Provide agency workers with written information regarding allocations

Don’ts

  • As an agency we are not allowed to charge our agency staff a fee 

  • Do not charge agency workers for additional agency services

  • Not to withheld wages from agency workers
