COVID-19: How to Handle Patient Files
The coronavirus can contaminate surfaces including hospital notes
Keep patient notes/chart away from the patient’s bed (in lockers or outside room)
Ideally, keep notes in a plastic file that can be wiped clean twice daily
Do not wear gloves when handling or writing in notes
Clean your hands before and after touching patient notes charts
Send all prescription charts to pharmacy in a plastic sleeve
